The Gospel of Jesus Christ
I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes… For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is from first to last, just as it is written, “The righteous will live by faith.”
Romans 1:16-17
What is the gospel of Jesus Christ?
The word gospel is used in the New Testament some 91 times. Its real meaning is 'the good news’ and in short, the good news about Jesus Christ is this:
- Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, was born of a virgin.
- He chose to die on the cross to become, once and for all time, a living sacrifice for our sins.
- He went to hell but, as He had no sin of His own, hell could not hold Him.
- He rose again and is now seated on a throne with God the Father in heaven.
- Because of what He did, we can now also be born again, and through Him, we too can spend eternity with God the Father in heaven as well, being seated on the same throne, as a joint heir with Jesus Christ.
It is this good news that will change a person’s life from being under the power of the devil to being released into the power of God.
There are three parts to this bible study into the gospel of Jesus Christ as follows:
