Psalm 23 a Revelation and Inspiration of the Lord my Shepherd
There are times in my life when a piece of God’s scripture becomes alive and I live with it day by day getting inspiration and fresh revelation of its deep relevance to everything I do. Then God asks me to share what He is saying to me so that others can be inspired as well. God is not selfish. He loves sharing His word so that you and I might know Him better.
I pray that this inspires you in your walk with God and brings you closer to Him both in the good times and in the times of challenge.
I have written the psalm out first in case you do not have a bible with you and then followed the word of God with the revelation and inspiration He has given me. Please enjoy:
Psalm 23
-
The Lord is my Shepherd (to feed, guide, and shield me). I shall not lack.
-
He makes me lie down in (fresh, tender) green pastures; He leads me beside the still
-
and restful waters.
-
He refreshes and restores my life (my self); He leads me in the paths of
righteousness (uprightness and right standing with Him-not for my earning it, but) for
His name’s sake.
-
Yes, though I walk through the (deep, sunless) valley of the shadow of death, I will
fear or dread no evil, for You are with me; Your rod (to protect) and Your staff (to
guide), they comfort me.
-
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head
with oil; my (brimming) cup runs over.
-
Surely or only goodness, mercy, and unfailing love shall follow me all the days of my life, and through the length of my days, the house of the Lord (and His presence) shall be my dwelling place.
Revelation and inspiration from God:
-
God is always with me, provides for me, guides me, keeps me safe. I shall always have enough, even when I am going through troubles and tough times.
-
He gives me rest in a lovely place of abundance, of freshness and newness, peace and refreshing. There are fresh food and water that is safe for me to eat and drink. It is also a beautiful place. He not only makes this provision for me but he leads me to it as well. What more could I ask of God who leads me to where He has provided for me everything desirable for my health and well being.
-
When I feel down and worn out by daily life He picks me up and gives me new life so that I feel refreshed and ready to walk again. He leads me to the paths that are good for me to travel on and enables me to be what He has called me to be. This is not because I have earned it by doing lots for him or working hard. It is simply because He loves me and wants me to be like Him so that I can glorify His name and be a witness of His goodness wherever I go.
-
There are times when I have to walk through dark places or deal with things that hurt. Then God encourages me to think that this is only a shadow as I am always in the presence of the Most Holy God where His Son always shines. There is no need for me to be afraid for He is always with me and can protect and comfort me. It causes me to remember that I as I have given my life to the Lord I walk in His Kingdom whilst I am on this earth as well as afterwards.
- God even shows my enemies publicly that He is with me by the provisions He has made for me. All I have to do is to see with His eyes and recognise that the provision is always there for me. On this table, there is everything I will ever need and all I have to do is walk up to it and partake. This table contains more than I can ever imagine with my thoughts so I have to think like God. As I also walk in His anointing I have more than enough for anything that comes against me. This is simply because I have his favour.
- If I walk the paths that God sets before me I will know only His goodness, mercy and unfailing love all my life. I will always be with Him in His house and that is where I will live during all of my life here on earth and ever afterwards. Others will be touched by the blessing of God when I am with them and will want what God has in store for them to.
What a blessing! There is nothing more that you could ask for, except for God to be your Shepherd if you are not walking with him.
