Dennis & Celia
Well, this is who we are! We are a couple who are madly in love with Jesus Christ (and madly in love with each other as well.) But, in truth, our life has not always been this good. Our married life has had its share of ups and downs just like other couples, and perhaps more than most.
When we got married in 1970, neither of us knew the Lord so we did what we thought was best. I guess this is what most other couples do; and some make it where some don't. However it wasn't until we both came to the Lord that we started to realise that our marriage was not as good as it should be. This didn't change things, but I think it made us more aware of the problems that we were dealing with than we had been before.
Since then, it's been a process of God changing our lives, to bring us in line with His word; or, re-arranging our mental processes so that we can see things from a different perspective. Seeing things form His eyes, as it were.
We have come to realise that there is a Godly order to things that we can change whenever we want to. But when we change them, there is a cost to be paid because the change has consequences; and we have to live with them. We can either choose to live our lives God's way, or we can choose to live our lives our way. It is a free choice and we have the right to make that choice whenever we want.
You know, it's not rocket science! When you read the scripture that tells you that His ways are higher than our ways and His thoughts are higher than our thoughts you can quickly come to the decision that He knows best. And if you allow him to direct your path (yes, even in your married life.) you can quickly start to see His blessings in your marriage.
You see, as we discovered, the difficult thing is giving your desires over to God and asking Him what is best; and then doing that instead of what you naturally want to do. It's about learning to trust Him to know better than you do about your life
When you live your lives that way as a couple you soon start to discover that there is a major restoration taking place in your marriage that really is worth having.
This is part of the ministry that we have now and we believe that we are seeing tremendous restoration in other people's marriages as they allow us to lead them. It's not about marriage counselling, it's about life counselling. It's about how you walk with God - His way or your way.
